Tuscan Mining Geopark

Monumenti

The Geopark of the Metalliferous Hills- Tuscan Mining Geopark, credited CETS (European Charter for Sustainable Tourism), in 2014 is an area that preserves intact the wild charm of this part of Maremma where the eye is kidnapped by breathtaking views and lush vegetation, interspersed only with the visible traces left by a mining history through millennia. Geomorphology is the most important business card of this authentic piece of Tuscany and no need for explanation. For this wealth the park has been named Unesco Geopark.
The paths of CAI (alpine Italian Club), present all over the country, sometimes cross side paths with the signs of the Geopark: by following them you’ll get the chance to deepen aspects of geo-mining features and enjoy unique environments.
The Geopark is composed of seven municipalities in the Metalliferous Hills of Grosseto. A visit to the most important sites and routes will allow you to immerse completely in the history and geology of the area.
In each municipality you will receive information at the Gates of the Park (tourist offices) where you’ll find brochures, maps and hiking suggestions.
